GROW Model

The GROW Model is a structure for coaching and problem-solving. The acronym stands for:

  • Goal
  • Reality
  • Options
  • Will (or Way Forward)

Step by Step Guide:

Setting the Goal: Identify a specific, measurable, and achievable goal that you want to work towards. Write it down and make it clear to yourself.
  • What is the outcome I want to achieve?
  • How will I know when I have achieved it?
Reality: Evaluate the current situation, including any obstacles or challenges you may be facing. Write down what you observe and assess.
  • What is the current situation?
  • What are the challenges or obstacles I am facing?
Options: Brainstorm a list of possible strategies or approaches to overcome the challenges or obstacles. Evaluate the pros and cons of each option and prioritize them.
  • What are the different strategies I can use to overcome the challenges or obstacles?
  • Which options seem most promising and why?
Will (or Way Forward): Make a plan of action and determine what steps you need to take to achieve your goal. Set deadlines and commitments for each step.
  • What is my plan of action to achieve my goal?
  • What are my next steps and what deadlines do I need to set?
  • How can I hold myself accountable to my commitments?
